Librarians challenged to be authetic and have impact

Many a times librarians are regarded by library users as people who issue books and journal artciles at the counter. However there is more that happens behind the scenes. A recent opinion from a writer in the Library Journal, articulates how a service provided by librarians should go further than just providing the books and literature. Librarian should indeed understand the exact information need of each user and help with critical analysis. However it is easier said than done since such an enhanced service cannot easily be provided.
